For every athlete their
goal is to an athletic scholarship but most
athletes are stuck in the evaluating and
recruiting phase. It is easier for college
coaches to tell you that they are evaluating you
then to tell you are not good enough. Here is a
list of some of the most common phrases and what
they really mean:
If college coaches are
talking about grades, more than likely there is
a problem with you qualifying.
If a coach is telling you
this it means that he truly wants you to work
hard, but you are currently not good enough
compared to the other recruits at your position
For the prospects that
they have invited to their junior day and called
during the spring evaluation period, they really
are interested in evaluating you at a summer
camp. For the other prospects this is just a way
to get you to attend their summer camp and put
money into the school.
All
this line means is that you're a scholarship
athlete for another school.
They probably won't be
recruiting you anymore, but they want to know
how your recruiting is going in case you get
offered by a rival or another big school so that
they can be in the mix of recruiting you as
well.
There are other prospects
that they grade higher than you on their
recruiting board, if those prospects pick
another school they may have a scholarship
available for you.
