College Football Recruits

Playing college football is a great accomplishment for any student athlete. High school football players across the country dream everyday of taking their game to the next level. The recruitment process to many college football recruits is a mystery. High school coaches are just too busy to understand all the aspects that go into getting a recruit scouted. For high school players there are three things each recruit has to take care of in order to get a college scholarship:

  • Receive good grades in high school and become eligible with the NCAA Clearinghouse

  • Perform on the football field to the best of your abilities and film every game

  • Get exposure to college coaches

EARN Good Grades

Grades are the key to receiving a college scholarship; many potential college recruits excel on the football field but don't take care of business in the classroom. Many students have the ability to play football at the college level but college coaches won't touch them as soon as they see bad transcripts. It’s a shame to put all those hours in the weight room, watching tape and time spent on the practice field to waste because you decided not to take math class seriously. Don’t be the best player on your high school team, but your grades will not allow you to get into college.

Excel On the Football Field

Perform on the football field, every game and every play has to be executed to the best of your ability. If you’re an offensive lineman you need to make it your goal that after every play you put another players face in the ground. Colleges will not recruit kids that are lazy, the better you play not only helps your team, but it also helps creating a better highlight tape. There are hundreds of thousands of recruits across the country each year, what are you doing to separate yourself from the rest?

Get Exposure To College Coaches

Camps and combines are essential to getting exposure to college coaches, if coaches don't know who you are how will they recruit you. Camps and combines should not be taken as a summer vacation to your state university. If you are not in peak athletic form you are better off not going. Camps and combines have to be viewed as a job interview. If you would like more information about the importance of these events read our article on camps and combines.
